Differences between traditional & Laser treatment (REVO NAP™)
Traditional Methods
REVO NAP™
Traditional Methods
- Multiple hygiene visits
- Patient to improve oral hygiene methods
- Dentist periodontists can surgically eliminate deep pockets. They also institute multiple hygiene visits with close monitoring
REVO NAP™
- Single long appointment for laser treatment, followed by 1 to 4 short visits each week
- Bespoke, personalised oral hygiene method planned and patient will be trained to follow it
- Non-surgical elimination of pockets

Side-effects of Treatment
- Teeth can become more sensitive
- Initial increased mobility/looseness of compromised teeth
- Lasers reduce sensitivity
- Lasers also improve mobility/looseness of teeth
Treatment Outcomes
- Results take weeks to months to be clinically visible (very slow progression), which can easily lead to relapse of gum disease
- There is no enhancement of attachment status of the gingival tissues to the underlying bone/ tooth structure
- Periodontal bone volume and density improvement is unpredictable
- Most patients lose bone volume/height before stabilisation
- Slowing down or only stabilisation of periodontal health is aimed at
- Clinically visible improvement in gingival health within a week, thereby significantly minimising relapse of periodontal disease
- New attachment of gingiva to underlying tissues established
- Improvement in bone density and volume
- Most patients have improved bone volume and there is very minimal bone loss
- Stabilisation and improvement in periodontal health
Follow-up protocol
- Regular 3 or 4 monthly follow-up with hygienist required
- monthly follow-up for the first one year and then 6 monthly follow-up, unless required otherwise (if patient unable to maintain good oral hygiene)
